PlantBox™ How-to-Guide
Feeling inspired to build your own vertical garden but not sure where to start? Here is our handy guide to building your PlantBox™ living wall.
Step 1. Measure Your Space
First things first, grab your tape measure and size up your space. This will help you determine how many PlantBox™ planters you’ll need. Each stackable trough measures 60cm wide x 20cm high x 15cm deep. We even have a nifty calculator on our shop page to make your life a whole lot easier.
Step 2. Choose Your Plants
We can deliver everything you need right to your doorstep: PlantBox™, plants, and high-quality peat-free compost. We have an amazing array of plant bundles for you to choose from. Shade and sun-loving plant mixes, grow-your-own bundles, and even an indoor jungle plant mix!
Or head to your local garden centre and handpick your own plants. Let your creativity bloom!

Step 3. Assemble Your PlantBox™
Hooray! Your deliveries have arrived, and it’s time to unleash your inner builder. Inside the box, you’ll find step-by-step assembly instructions. Trust us, it’s as easy as putting together a jigsaw puzzle. Don’t believe us? Download our assembly instructions or watch our helpful video. You’ll be a PlantBox™ assembly pro in no time!
Step 4. Stack Your PlantBox™
Simply stack your PlantBox™ troughs together and use the clips to hold the vertical columns together. Your PlantBox™ vertical garden will need some support. Restrain it to your wall or fence using our handy restraint fixings guidance.
Step 5. Get Planting!
It’s time to get planting! We recommend 4 x 1LTR (13cm) pot sized plants in each PlantBox™ for maximum coverage and instant impact. Use a peat-free compost to fill in around your plants.
You can also plant up your PlantBox™ troughs before stacking them up – just remember to handle your plants with care when stacking!
Step 6. Fill Up Your PlantBox™
Now that your plants are settled in, it’s time to give them a refreshing drink. Pour the water into the filter on the left-hand side of your top PlantBox™, and watch as it cascades down, filling the water reservoir in each trough. When the bottom indicator says “full,” it’s time to sit back and relax!
If you have a larger living wall in mind, an irrigation system will help you keep you living wall hydrated.
