Planting & Growing Conditions

Position: Partial shade is ideal for a mixed planting scheme, although individual varieties will tolerate different light conditions. Some prefer brighter positions, while others are particularly well suited to sheltered, shaded areas.

Soil: Fertile, well-drained garden soil. Most varieties will benefit from the addition of organic matter during planting.

Watering: Water regularly during establishment, particularly during warmer weather. Once established, watering requirements will vary depending on the species and growing conditions.
