To show our support for Recycle Week 2022, the team at Growing Revolution thought this would be a fantastic opportunity to share some insights into the ways we aim to make our business as sustainable as possible.
It’s #RecycleWeek every week here at Growing Revolution. We take UK household waste and turn it into PlantBox, a stackable living wall that’s made from 100% recycled materials. Our business operates on a Planet > People > Business model, meaning above all else, we do what we can to put the environment first.
As PlantBox is made from recycled materials here in the UK, and by UK-based manufacturers and suppliers, we know we’re supplying our customers with a high-quality, environmentally friendly product that hasn’t cost the earth – whilst supporting other UK businesses at the same time.
We’ve ensured our supply chain also shares our values and promotes environmental sustainability. A good example being how we recently changed our couriers due to their pledge to become one of the first transport companies to use all electric vehicles in the UK – something we see as being vitally important to work within a circular, net-zero economy.
PlantBox is made from 100% UK recycled post-consumer materials in Norfolk. Manufacturing PlantBox in the UK was important to us. Not only does it minimise our carbon footprint, but it also allows us to ensure the best quality product for our customers.
The core material is recycled polypropylene which is one of the best performing plastics, both from a sustainability and longevity perspective. Our packaging is made in Cambridgeshire (UK) from 100% recycled papers, and you will never see any single-use plastics around our products as we use compostable bags instead.
PlantBox has a design life of over 10 years, giving customers assurance that their vertical garden will be thriving for years to come. PlantBox is both modular and stackable, and troughs can be easily unscrewed from the wall and moved to any new location. This encourages reusability and gives total flexibility to the customer. PlantBox is designed to appeal to everyone from novice gardeners to expert landscapers and was a finalist of the RHS Sustainable Garden Product of the Year in 2021.
