We are thrilled to announce PlantBox is a RHS Chelsea Sustainable Garden Product of the Year 2021 Finalist! PlantBox, the cleverly simple vertical garden, was launched last year and is helping to transform gardens, patios and balconies across the UK.
The competition recognises the best new garden products and it is an honour to see PlantBox alongside such innovative and green-thinking finalists. Entries are judged on the following criteria: innovation, visual appeal, functionality, quality, value for money and environmental sustainability. The winner will be announced on Monday 17th May as part of the RHS Virtual Chelsea Flower Show.
Why Sustainability is important to us
We’re all about reconnecting people with nature. PlantBox is our sustainable solution to achieve that and more! Beyond the obvious (and gorgeous) greening up of spaces, plants promote healthier communities by absorbing high levels of nasty pollutants and creating cleaner air for us to breathe. Simply spending time around plants improves our mood and reduces stress and anxiety.
How PlantBox is Sustainable
We’re committed to greening up the planet with more than just plants. That’s why PlantBox is designed to be as super-sustainable as possible:
● PlantBox is made in the UK from 100% recycled materials. We also use 100% recycled cardboard packaging and potato starch bags to hold the small bits, avoiding single-use plastic and wasteful padding.
● The cascading watering system eliminates the need for daily watering and prevents water wastage. Each PlantBox has a water level indicator to show exactly how thirsty plants are and holds enough water for 1 to 2 weeks.
● £1 from every PlantBox we sell goes to the PlantBox Trust. This donation goes to charities and community projects that are working to provide green spaces, clean water, wellbeing gardens, good nutrition and reduced air pollution.
Sustainability Doesn’t Stop There…
Aside from packing lots of living, breathing plants into a small space and giving local biodiversity a much-needed boost, PlantBox can be used to create a vertical allotment, heaving with home-grown fruits, veggies and herbs. Planting nectar-rich flowers encourages bees, butterflies and other pollinators, providing them with a vital source of food and shelter, especially in the concrete wastelands of our cities. How you wish to support the planet with your vertical garden is up to you!
