Greening the grey

April 2, 2020 Matt Lindsay

With populations in towns and cities on the up, the need for more housing and social infrastructure has never been greater. Unfortunately, that often leads to grey and dreary buildings that are a bit of an eyesore to our built environment.

However! Living walls and green roofs can add immediate improvement. As well as providing a stunning addition to dreary buildings or unused walls and fences, green walls or vertical gardens can also:

  • Reduce noise
  • Reduce urban temperature
  • Remove air pollutants
  • Increase productivity for workers
  • Improve general health and wellbeing
  • Improve biodiversity
  • Attenuate rainwater
  • Keep buildings thermally insulated

Our parent company, Biotecture, have installed many large scale projects across the UK. Watch the Future of our Cities clip here.

PlantBox is ideal for smaller projects: it’s easy to install, and is a very affordable system for homeowners, builders, designers and landscapers. Of course, there’s still lots of work to be done in order to really convince some housebuilders and developers that there are so many benefits to green infrastructure.

We definitely feel it’s time to grow up with us at Growing RevolutionTM
